App icon for the FoRB Forum (a chat platform to connect religious freedom advocates worldwide)

This is what FoRB Forum was looking for in their logo design

We built an app to connect advocates for Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) worldwide. These people deal with very serious issues like genocide, disappearances, unjust imprisonment, etc. We did a design contest on another site and did a poll with three finalists, and some very influential people in our movement voted and the results were unanimous. So we are very much stuck with this concept. And I do really like the idea of using the weird little “o” in “FoRB” to show the idea of connection/a Roundtable/the globe.

The problem is that this icon feels immature, like a cartoon—not serious enough for people experiencing genocide. I don’t know if the solution is just to tweak the font and colors, or if there is some other way to keep the concept but make it more serious, but it’s just not there yet. Read more
