Logo Design Brief

We are an active family looking for a logo / hull design for our new Outremer 55 high performance blue water cruising catamaran that we plan to sail the world in. The design is for a vinyl wrap around the two hulls that will include the boat’s name and a logo or graphic image that supports the boat name. The design must fit between the waterline and the top of the hull and it could be just on the more visible outboard faces of the hulls, or it could potentially continue on to also be on the inboard faces of the hulls.

The name of the boat is Catalyst. We chose the name Catalyst because a catalyst is “something that encourages/accelerates progress or change” and we expect our Outremer catamaran to be a catalyst for creating new adventures, for travel, for bringing together family/friends and for many other positive changes. Secondarily the name Catalyst plays off the boat being a catamaran. We envision that the design will convey the progress, change or forward motion triggered by a Catalyst and ideally also reflect that fast sailing nature of the boat. We want the name to be clear and easily readable from a distance. We envision the name to be in all CAPS in a modern font similar to the file linked below, but we are open to alternative designs. The font in the linked file is primarily Azonix (with extra spacing between letters), but we didn’t like how the rounded the Azonix L and S are so we subbed in a Nasalization “S” and an “L” with a right angle.

The boat is a sleek, fast, modern boat with a color palette that includes: white hull, black mast, black lifeline stanchions/posts/pillars and Sunbrella Cadet Grey sail covers) and two more colorful downwind sails that are blue, light blue, grey, white and black)

• Boat name and art for bow area. Clear font that can be read from a distance.

Nice to have

• It would be great to see more designs showing how the art would be positioned on the hull. I have included new photos showing how the bow art is positioned on two of the first Outremer 55s that have been launched.

Should not have

• UPDATE: Surprisingly most of the boat images used in proposed designs were of motor boats or of monohull boats. Those designs will not work for us because CATALYST is a catamaran sailboat - which means it has TWO hulls and sails. Any designs incorporating a boat should reflect this - and should not show monohull sailboats or motor boats. I have uploaded a new file that shows a number of catamaran logo designs that show how a catamaran while still being somewhat abstract and not too literal.
