Logo Design Brief
I need a logo for a new food blog called Terrible Vegan.
The blog is for people who appreciate the reasons for eating a vegan diet but haven't completely made the change to 100% plant based foods. It is meant to help them overcome their reservations that the food might be too difficult or tasteless or inconvenient for social occasions.
The blog title is a playful mockery of the idea that vegans are terrible. It is meant to signal that the site is fun and doesn't take itself too seriously.
The site is aimed at busy families and the health conscious who want healthy, tasty, good looking food that kids and friends will want to eat.
The overall impression should be that the site is about cooking tasty healthy food.
Updates
Thankyou all for your efforts so far. I wanted to highlight the features that are working best at expressing the brief so that you have the best chance to submit a competitive design before the deadline. You'll note I've increased the value of first place and established a prize for second place.
* The most successful logos have had a strong element that indicates COOKING - such as a cooking pot, a chef's knife.
* The logos that best capture the subversion of the 'terrible vegan' have involved some DRAMA - flames doing the cooking, a knife cutting, vegetables / human characters with offbeat expressions. I am male so any human characters should also be male.
* My favoured logos are CLEAN and BOLD. Most logos use some green, which is great, but the best logos include other colours to provide interest and depth.
* I feel the best logos will do a good job of convincing reluctant vegans to take interest. I am less interested in 'fresh and healthy' logos that are aimed at people already convinced that fresh vegetables are a good idea.
A reminder of the critical and preferred elements:
* The logo must have CREATIVITY and CHARACTER - the pictorial element must be able to stand on its own and express the concepts in the brief.
* Please provide equal importance to both words (font colour and size). This is the Terrible Vegan foodblog. Not a food blog about TERRIBLE Vegan food.
* The perfect logo would capture the playful mockery of the idea that vegans are terrible.
* Nice to incorporate an iconic vegetable or legume especially those associated with protein such as beans (especially edamame beans) or a mushroom or a chickpea or lentil etc. Other veg are also good (such as veg leafs and avocados etc) to indicate freshness but shouldn't be the sole logo element.
Also a reminder of what will not be considered favourably:
* Should not be an overly busy design
* Should not just be a picture of an avocado next to the words Terrible Vegan
* Should not just be a picture of some vegetables and the words Terrible Vegan
* Should not be the words Terrible Vegan stylised with some vegetable flourishes
Thanks everyone and best of luck with your final designs!
