Book Cover Design Brief
I need a book cover for a thriller that will be released this spring.
The title is "Arrythmia" and the maincharacter suffers from a heart problem that becomes the center of the story.
It will be released in swedish so the title to use in the design is "Arytmi"
I´ve attached an image that I used as a temporary cover for it when sending material to publishers (named MyCover), as well as the first try of making an actual book cover from the Publisher (named PublishersCover).
I would like the "heartbeat" to be in the image as it is in my version. Preferably with the "A" in "Arytmi" turned upside down as I have it in my version. This is to symbolize that something is wrong with the heartbeat showing in the image. If you can think of other ways to do it. Feel free to try.
I dont like the fonts used in any of these two images. The font used in myCover is not visible enough and the one used in publishersCover the font feel too much fantasy.
The title and the author name "Fredrik Frängsmyr" need to be clearly visible.
When it comes to colors I don´t really have any preferences. Black background is cool but if you want to try something else, then please go ahead.
Need any more information then dont hesitate to shout me a holler.
Updates
Hi guys,
Thanks for your designs. Great to see progress being made. So far acolasadcock is closest to what I had in mind.
I´d like to see more designs in that direction. But I like more things happening in the background. Something that could be almost completely faded out or only showing a small part of something. Could be a human heart, could be closeups of chains around someones legs (people are getting sunk in the water by the mob in the book), could be a drop of blood, could be something else that looks good ( a swoosh or something)
I like pixeled fonts. But I need the title to be easier to read and if the heartbeatcurve is used as a letter "A" in the title then that part of the curve needs to be done in the same fabric as the rest of the title.
As I mentioned, her design was closest, but I´m not completely sure that this is the way to go so I´m still interested in seeing completely other designs as well.
Thanks again
/Fredrik

Should not have
- Nothing cute or cuddly
- I´m not looking for a finished image to send directly to print. I´m looking for concepts that I can send to my agency and explain how I´d like the cover to look.
