Creative Brief: Website Template
Overview
Create an awesome website template for our CMS. Our system currently has 15 templates, and we want to create a bigger library. The template must be simple, visual, different, and clean. The clients will be able to customize this template, so the headers, colors, images will be changed by our users.
Project Requirements
For this design, let’s use a 12-cloumn grid. The column width is 78px and the gutter is 24px, totalizing 1200x. Keep in mind the logo area must be able to accommodate a horizontal or vertical logo. The homepage should include the following:
• Logo area
o Logo could be vertical or horizontal
• Navigation (either horizontal or vertical – no drop-down to show inner pages)
• Header area with a video lead-in
o Video lead-in could be a button link, photo link, or something else
• Welcome message/sentence
• Modules: Each client will need the ability to turn features on and off. We want to design two consistent sections that they can put modules into. They should be the same size. Their layout, and position is subject to your design.
o These are the modules we would like to be available:
Obituaries: List containing up to 4 pages of obituaries – showing the picture and name
Blog: Thumbnail, title, author, date, & intro text for 2-3 posts
• Footer should include:
o Navigation
o Email signup (Name, Email, Submit Button)
o Quick contact info
o Social links (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)
Main Navigation
• Obituaries
• Flowers & Gifts
• What We Do
• Grief & Healing
• Resources
• Plan Now
Secondary Navigation:

Design Goals
• The goal of the site is to create a healing/life celebrating experience for the end user. We want this to be people focused, celebrating memories together etc. We are known as the Disney World of the funeral profession, by giving people the unexpected viewing experience that is full of life.
• Site will be developed with Web 2.0 design standards and require clean web/fontkit CSS based fonts for the navigation, and copy.
• Keep the design open and easy to navigate; our target market is very wide in age.
• Use a warm color palate and keep it people focused.
• Be different. We want a template that doesn’t look like the websites listed below.
• Very simple and clean.
Other Considerations
• Following a successful home page design we will need a subpage design comp and style sheet elements to work with our life story system.
