This vision is to establish a nationwide network of waste electronics dismantling/recycling facilities and collection points under one brand (“Project Green”), that are operating with industry best practices and high environmental standards using standardized systems for dismantling and tracking and offering user friendly and efficient collection points.
New Zealand television (TV) broadcasting is going digital in stages from September 2012 to December 2013 [www.goingdigital.co.nz]. It’s estimated, in New Zealand there will be hundreds of thousands of old CRT TVs entering our waste stream. Old TVs contain materials that can harm the environment if they are not recycled.
The Minister has approved the allocation of up to $10 million from the Waste Minimization Fund to divert up to 500,000 TVs from landfill and subsidize the cost of recycling these; along with developing the collection and recycling infrastructure in New Zealand with the view to adopting a wider product stewardship scheme in the future, whereby all e-waste is diverted from landfill.
The Ministry for the Environment (MfE) have launched a regional campaign to let people know where and how they can recycle their old TVs. It’s called the TV TakeBack. [www.tvtakeback.govt.nz]
RemarkIT [www.remarkit.co.nz] THATS US!, is one of three lead contractors for the TV TakeBack initiative and are setting up a nationwide recycling network in collaboration with TES-AMM New Zealand [www.tes-amm.com], our strategic recycling partner.
We are calling this new network “Project Green” (Unless you can think of a better name which has the .co.nz domain available!!) and it will include recycling (processing) centers and collection points throughout New Zealand, including TES-AMM and RemarkIT’s own facilities and others such as Kilmarnock Enterprises in Christchurch [www.kilmarnock.co.nz].
We are working with councils all over the country as collection points and our main key competitor is www.e-cycle.co.nz

Nice to have
- Would like the text to have a serious feel to it and also have a separate logo (image of some sort). Not a total must if the text looks good enough by itself. (meaning if its a really cool wordmark logo we will stay with that but would quite like a an abstract logo with the text)
Also wold like a tag line of
- where ecology meets technology
or
- New Zealand electronics recycling network
