Logo Design Brief
Updates: I added a picture of a very cool text I saw yesterday. "Los petit fellas"
We liked the style. Organic, bold, angled, handmade. Take it as inspiration.
Added another one. Refocus your mind. Awesome calligraphy! Full of volume, randomness and style.
Hi!
Let´s fire that Porter Robinson - Worlds album and get inspired! :D
My artist name is Stizer. I am a producer/DJ. I want something, handwritten, organic, young and simple but sophisticated, with a strong progressive impact. Attached is a rough made idea (and its inspiration "Saints" and "Virgin" logos) that could work after some mangling but its just one idea that I wanted to post cause it's got some tinkering. Does not have to this way; can be completely different. feel free to experiment. There is also a picture of many DJ logos, that has some specially interesting references such as: Daft punk, Netsky, Atrak, The Phantoms Revenge. All of these have organic unique characters and strong tendency lines. Again, only references. Other attachments were also used for reference, as the Breezy logo which we liked because of the depth and fluidity the characters provided.
As for branding the logo and add ons that can match the brand, we have identified astronaut, tuxedo monkey and/or astronaut monkey as the distinguishable characters. Think of the ubiquitous deadmau5 logo that has the mouse on it. Doesn't have to be there all the time, but, if it is, it's OK and brands the whole thing. To be sincere, we have not chosen one of them. We decided to give the logo designer a chance to influence the brand with the integration abilities / character personality design he/she can provide. It all depends on how good it looks on the logo. Personally, we are very biased towards the monkey astronaut thing because it matches the brand identity to be instinctive emotional, humanized, animal music. Also the astronaut because music can make your mind go to space. I am also attaching some monkey astronaut pictures that may get you inspired. Not have any rights over any of them, just use as reference. What is for sure is that DJ logos are heavily biased towards the characters, as the quick visual hook; rather than the branding figures (mouse, symbols, monkeys...); which, in many cases, work fine alone, too.
This is a new project, there is nothing out there like it or about it, so you won't find much info. Please fire any questions you want.
I hope you who engage with me in this get a great and fun time doing this. Hope we can make it cooler than anything else. (Specially than all of the famous DJ logos that are together in the attached image ;) )
Cheers!
Thanks!

Requirements
Must have
- Strong communication of the brand name. Young, progressive, organic, non repeatable, unique feel. EMOTIONAL is key!
Nice to have
- Open to ideas!
- Color picking wont let me chose grayscale plus other colors. Usually DJ logos come in black/ white fashion but I am open to ideas.
- As for the look/feel sliders I get on this page... I am not really good at this to be sure what means an economical/upmarket difference. I hope the description above will suffice.
Should not have
- Standard characters/fonts. Very important to be unique/custom
