Logo Design Brief
We're launching a 501(c)(4) non-profit public benefit corporation for social welfare. It's called 'Say No To Big Money.' The rallying cry is "Say Yes to Democracy, SayNoToBigMoney.com." We support the proposed constitutional amendment, the “Democracy for All Amendment.” The Senate number is S.J. Res. 19 and the House is S.J. Res. 119.
We need (1) a logo design for the organization: "Say No To Big Money". Creative direction: I'm leaning toward a logo solution that involves (a) font treatments only, no visual mark associated. But, I'm open to the possibility of a logo with (b) a visual mark associated with the five words. One visual mark idea I had is the top of a flagpole on the left and a flag waving in the breeze so you can see the front and the back at the same time -- front is the US flag, back is a $100 bill.
We want clean like "Apple" but more bold. I had thought of a rubber-stamp style font, or Machine Bold, but probably not. :-) The organization should be perceived as strong, attractive, big, trustworthy, friendly. Not trendy, not all red-white-and-blue, not too thin, non-partisan, a pinnacle of light :-)
I also need one application of the same organization name but as a URL in the context of the call and response: (2) "Say Yes to Democracy / SayNoToBigMoney.com" This application treatment does not have to be in the same font or style as the organization logo. I envision this treatment as two lines stacked, maybe two different fonts, maybe one line bold, maybe the initial caps in the URL treated differently, maybe this, maybe that. Think of it as a bumper sticker or a unit like that, a call-to-action, that can be used in many ways...Definitely no visual mark with this application. Good luck!

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: Hi Designers, I've decided to extend this logo design contest by 5 days because the winning design has yet to be done. Thanks for working on round 1. Four designs submitted we labeled 'good' and I circulated among our directors; but none have so far been "the one." We will not extend the deadline again. And we'll add $100 to the contest to encourage the neurons to fire, the dendrites to extend....
Also, note that more than half of the designs submitted in round 1 were not executed according to the assignment. I urge you to read the "designer discussion" reply to one question raised by a participating designer. I tried to clarify the assignment there. It's two parts. Here's the summary:
(1) Logo -- "Say No To Big Money" and
(2) Tag line / call-to-action -- "Say Yes To Democracy / SayNoToBigMoney.com"

Say No To Big Money

- One of the challenges in dealing with this assignment is the fact that there are 5 words in the name. Doesn't lend itself to a solution that is simple or strong, like so many one-word names can achieve more easily. So, one way I've been thinking about it is how to maybe contain the words in one strong unit. I recalled the 'New York Life' logo as handling 3 words well, making a nice unit. Then when I looked at it I sensed the warmth from the font, and the rounded edges of the square ... not necessarily things I want to emulate, but attributes I do like. The design is for a very accessible insurance company. It's not scary. I don't want 'Say No To Big Money' to be as soft, but I do like the graphical approach (worth exploring) of reversing out of a colored block, or other unit TBD and likely related ideas... Hope this helps.
