Logo Design Brief
WRFC was established in 1925 by a group of players that had begun in the Newcastle rugby competition under the name of GPS Old Boys in 1924. Wanderers members are credited with forming junior teams in the early 1960’s that ultimately led to the establishment of junior rugby in the Newcastle region. The Club playing uniform design is jersey and socks of Sky Blue with Royal Blue hoops and white shorts.
Complete details of the Club history and example of existing Club branding / logo are available on the Club website www.wanderersrugby.com.au. This will also ultimately require a refresh.
WRFC is widely recognised as the model rugby club and founders of a highly entertaining and attacking brand of Rugby in the Newcastle and Hunter region.
Wanderers are renowned for playing an inteligent brand of running Rugby. By this I mean that although Rugby is a physical body collision game we play a highly competative but more expansive game than our competitors. We are recognised as leaders in the rugby community. We develop players both as individuals and as players. We are recongnised as a professionally run outfit.
We need a new logo that projects the identity we need to take us forward while recognising Club traditions and values. We want to use the logo to help develop and promote the Wanderers brand as the most recognisable, proficient, unified and progressive amateur Rugby club in the Hunter region and country NSW.
Updates
Dudes,
So far no one is close. The design that includes a soccer ball has obviously not read the brief or understood we are about RUGBY football not soccer football. Keep trying. I just know the right creative is out there.

I have received feedback that the brief I provided was too much background and not enough about the character / qualities of the Club. I have updated the brief again in the hope that I have done a better job of describing the characteristics that define our Club.
Please let me know if this is not the case.

Requirements
Must have
- colours are Light Blue.. pantone 299, Dark Blue... pantone 2945, and white. A variation on the current Club emblem (shiled)or somehow clearly demonstrate how the design / shape better represents the Club identity.
Nice to have
- symbolic representation of links to the city of Newcastle in NSW, Australia. Check out coat of arms for Newcastle at http://www.ngw.nl/int/aus/newcastl.htm and I think the mural crown with lghthouse is a fair representation / emblem to work with.
Should not have
- any symbolic representations that are include in other existing rugby league or rugby union teams in this region e., Newcastle Knights, Newcastle University.
