Logo Design Brief
We are a supplier of high-density, customizable metals. We think of ourselves as an engineering firm first. As opposed to selling pre-made, “on-the-shelf” parts, we work instead with Original Equipment Managers (OEM) and consult them on a design and manufacturing basis, until we are able to deliver the precise customized product they need. Thus we are looking for a clean, simple and sleek logo to help launch our new business (based in Austin, Texas).
Needs to convey:
• A metallic, technology feeling (don’t overdo it, please—i.e. not at the expense of any color or fun whatsoever; also, please don’t go too blocky with it)
Themes to work with (by no means need to include them all, just things to get you brainstorming):
• Technology
• Metal
• Manufacturing
• Precision
• Engineering
• Design Consulting
Suggestions:
• **These are simply suggestions, NOT requirements. Please be creative and don’t feel like you are bound to any concepts or restrictions. These are merely data points that could help you get started.
• I like silvers, blues, greens, and oranges
• Probably not more than two colors.
Try to strike a balance between the playfulness of web 2.0 design and the sleekness and modernity of a metallic design representative of our company’s products. When in doubt, lean towards sleek/modern over playful/web 2.0.
If possible, try to convey a sense of a metal or manufacturing process (or both) somewhere in the logo. For example, the word cogent means (at least one definition) relevant, or to the point. Thus, you could play around with the idea of to the point, or precision, as that is a little less abstract than the word cogent.
I promise to comment on and rate all the logos I like within 4-6 hours (as long as I’m not sleeping). I will also try to eliminate logos as fast as possible to give as much direction to you designers as possible and so that you all can get a better idea of my tastes/preferences.
Thanks in advance for your time and efforts!
Updates
Wow! The submissions have been great so far, and I must admit that with the weekend I've fallen behind my schedule to give feedback as fast as I said I wanted to.
Anyway, I am going to do my best to get caught up today. Thank you all for your creative submissions. I have been amazed at this process and can't get over how cool this is to see all your wonderful designs. Keep up the good work.
Best,
Ryan
