Logo Design Brief

Westbury Veterinary Clinic is a high-end small animal hospital providing pet wellness care, medical work-ups, and surgery. The hospital is located in Summerville, SC - about 20 miles from Charleston. We see only cats and dogs. The practice has been in business for 54 years.

Our taste in design is simple, elegant and professional - nothing too cutesy. Our parent company is called Androcles Veterinary Care Centers. If we could get a design that invokes an image of the "Androcles and the Lion" story, that would be nice but not 100% necessary. I'd like to see some options based on the story and some options that are more traditional vet practice logos. Keep in mind that, these days, most vets are women so while we don't a logo that is specifically feminine, we don't want one that is too masculine either.

Our color scheme is fairly open but, again, simple, elegant, professional. We want to convey a sense of stability, compassion, professionalism, and high quality. We are new owners in a well established hospital so we want to come off as fresh and modern but with a respect for the hospital's rich history and our long-standing place in the community.

Target Market(s)

We cater to pet owners across a wide age range. Socio-economic status of our customers is middle class and above. We do not target price shoppers.

Requirements

Must have

• We need a logo that can easily be turned into black and white or limited grayscale for certain collateral materials (letterhead, fax coversheets, business cards, etc)
  

Nice to have

• We'd like to incorporate imagery from the "Androcles and the Lion" story but that's not entirely necessary
  
  We like the stylized but elegant logo for Emerald Vet Clinic (attached).
  
  

Should not have

• Color combinations that are too bold
  
  Images that are too "cute" - we prefer professional to cutesy
  
  A lot of vet clinics have a logo with an image of a cat and dog together, one silhouetted over the other. We won't stand out with that type of design.
