Logo Design Brief
We need a logo representing our new software product (Streamline) which is used for modelling environmental data.
It is typically used for modelling flows in river systems, flood forecasting or hydro powerstation operations.
A model will typically consist of a directed network of river branches in which the water flow is modelled.
In cases of irrigation modelling or hydro powerstation operation, the software can allow for calibration of the operation to maximise profitability or determining the most efficient operating rules so the "Streamline" name can be considered in the context of both efficiency or in the context of streams & rivers.
Models can also be developed that include consideration of environmental and natural habitat constraints so that the use and control of water from natural streams can be perfomed in an environmentally friendly way.
The software can be used in an interactive study mode or as part of an automated system performing flow forecasting for use in flood warning and real-time river operations.
We would like to see designs that incorporate notions of efficiency and environmental friendliness. The use of colours representing water, environment, earth etc would be preferred.
Updates
Based on some initial designs received, it appears that a wordmark style may be difficult given that we would like the design suitable for an icon.
Styles that incorporate a symbol/graphic with the text name being optional are probably going to be more suitable in order that we can use the symbol component on an icon, and the combined symbol and text for product labels and documentation.

Based on some initial designs received, here is some additional guidance to help to better focus designers so that their designs have a better chance of winning. In particular, we do require an image that can be used as an icon. It may be that the logo includes an image and text (and this seems to be a very common approach), but in this case we need both the image and the text to independently convey themes of streamlined, river flows, water, environment etc so that we can use the image by itself as an icon. It might be possible to arrange the text and image in a way that they can be used together as an icon although we haven't yet seen anything close to achieving this and our feeling at this stage is that it would be difficult to achieve a nice crisp icon by doing this.
In terms of the image, think of it being rendered on button or icon that a user is about to click on and ask yourself whether your image alone (without the text) would imply to the user any of the themes we want associated with our product.

Requirements
Must have
- Needs to be a design that can also be used as an icon so need to width:height ratio to no more than two.
Nice to have
- It would be good if the logo was also suited to gray-scale printing.
Should not have
- Do not like "stream" and "line" words stacked one above the other (so need to be a bit cleverer in controlling overall width:height ratio). Whether logo includes the name or not is not really important
