Logo Design Brief
While I am a public relations consultant by day, this is for my own new beekeeping endeavor... after first year of keeping bees, I now have honey to market and sale. I am located in Birmingham AL for all practical purposes and I am not going into bulk sale but am very interested in designing the logo and packaging to set us apart because who knows, I've been successful in public relations but I'm really enjoying the beekeeping...
I am a Southern Japanese - tall, Japanese with a Southern accent as I was born and raised in the southern U.S. so playing on Japanese heritage (Hachi) and the Southern theme. I'm also buddhist and an advocate for sustainable and renewable consciousness so for this logo, I see a queen bee that is illustrated with a beautiful "buddhist-esque" smiling head but maintaining almost an anime quality (ancient but modern?) - head is looking to heaven with the bee thorax and abdomen and wings (anatomically correct) - with beautiful sinewy arms instead of the bee legs... Again, the future opportunity with this new business is playing off the whole Queen Bee thing and developing add'l product.
For colors, I really like the old Burpee Seeds vintage logos, that deep grass green and deep yellows...tangerines, etc... so "classy", exclusive, gourmet comes to mind. Since designers from all over the world may respond, I also defer to trend in food colors as with lots of things, we're about 5 years behind the trendsetting areas of the world :-)
For future, I would like to select a designer for this project and I'm confident the designer selected "gets it" and I would want to have same designer design some quick samples for honey labels...and then I also plan on following up with the Queen Hachi Bee line of shirts, aprons, notecards, etc..
In hindsite, I went out and copied some images that may lend explanation to my vision... I included Ganesha to illustrate the multiple arms, and Avalokiteshvara, a Chinese female depicting buddha...very serene and at ease...if background element (large unfurling leaf or old fashioned bee skep (honey hive) would add in your opinion, please include...

Must have
- The concept is described in cover...but in essence, an anatomically correct (attached antique french illustration of an anatomically correct Queen Bee) Queen Bee with a buddha-esque head (female) facing shopper , wings spread with the Queen gazing at you serenely and the bee legs should be human sinewy graceful arms - 2 primary arms in meditation pose, the other 2 arms to hold the sun and the other to hold illustration of green or earth.. see attachments for examples similar to what I describe...
Nice to have
- For future use, I will be ordering labels to go on the jars (no decision on sizes, etc..yet) but I envision this logo bee to be centered against a vibrant background (an unfurled leaf or old fashioned bee skep?....with the Happy Hachi Farms - Pure Natural Honey with Southern Charm
