modnakatedra.com is a fan shop, an online store and a student project established in a partnership with faculties within University of Zagreb in Croatia.
On modnakatedra.com, we will sell hoodies, t-shirts, hats and other apparel that represent each faculty within the university.
The English translation of modna katedra would be FASHION DEPARTMENT.
“Modna” means fashion in Croatian, and the word “katedra” translated to English would mean department (even though it is not the literal translation that would fit the best in this context). In Croatian, the word “katedra” is used specifically for a department within a higher education institution only. E.g., in English, the word department can be used in reference to “police department,” but in Croatian, the word “katedra” can not be used in such a context.
What do we want the “modnakatedra.com” logo to look like?
We are focused on a student population between the ages of 18 and 28. According to that, we want the logo to be funky, urban and kind of modern with a retro touch.
On the web shop, communication with our buyers and visitors will be informal and easygoing; therefore, we want our logo to put off the same vibe.
We are not attached to any specific color, but we prefer bright colors. (color palette attached)

First off we would like tothank you all for participating our contest! We have received a largevariety of great designs and it was really difficult to pick the bestone.
In decision process we triedto align given solutions with our brief and as well we tried tovisualize which logo would fit the best in our marketing plan or outof which logo would be possible to create a story and start a word ofmouth within target audience.
How we see the winning logo andwhy is it chosen?
First off its leaving such agood impression on us and on every other person that we asked.
Second, the communicationtoward target audience is personalized. Owls represent wisdomand intelligence. It's wearing what looks like a letterman jacketwhich students who are in sports for schools buy, but it also lookslike a kind of dorky but cute sweater or vest that a smart/nerdystudent would wear. The glasses tie in with the character as well.
Everything about it representsan intelligent student in university apparel but in acreative/cute/funny/clever way.
Communication toward our targetgroup is clear and distinctive. The logo stands out of a crowd andit’s easy to memorize as well as it gives us a chance to do so manythings out of it.
