CD Cover Design Brief

IF U LOVE MUSIC AND ALBUM COVER ART THEN PLEASE PARTICIPATE IN MY PROJECT AND HAVE A GREAT TIME DESIGNING SOMETHING UNIQUE AND EXCITING!!!!

Hi, my name is beej, a pop/rock artist living in Europe. i just finished recording a fun dance song, called LIVIN LOCO MOTION, with a successful Universal Studios producer in Europe and I just put the finishing touches on the music video shot in LA. Now i'm going to release the song and video with MondoTunes. It's going to go out to about 750 stores, including iTunes, spotify and all the other biggies as well as a load of smaller ones.

I need a great looking CD cover design that i can plaster everywhere . . . and i really mean everywhere i can.

As per MondoTunes' specs, the cover art MUST BE 1500 x 1500 pixels. It cannot be blurry or pixilated and must be perfectly square.

I've uploaded some pics for you to choose from but you can use whichever one(s) you like . . . or none of them if you prefer, according to your inspiration. Just let me know if you want other pics and i can upload others.

Hey there,

I've added a few more pics (full body performance with guitar) for you to choose from.

Also, EVERYBODY REALLY NEEDS TO KEEP IN MIND that the destination for your design is online music stores like iTunes. So the dimensions will be VERY SMALL The actual size  seen by the public will be about 1.5 cm x 1.5 cm! (Please have a look at the iTunes store to see the actual size people will view the designs in.)

This means that your designs have to be clearly communicated at that size. The title of the song (livin loco motion) and my artist name (beej) have to be large enough to read and whatever idea you're going for has to be easily understood.

I say this because I'm seeing a lot of designs that look great large but will not work  when reduced to the iTunes store size.

Hi again, all,

One designer asked me to upload some examples of covers I like, which I just did. The reasons I like the ones i uploaded are that they are easy to read and the idea is easy to understand when the image is small. The other thing all of the examples have in common is that they are really really simple yet original.

Hey there,

Somebody just asked me a question so I thought I'd try and clear it up for you...

You are right to design for the size mentioned in the brief, 1500 x 1500 pixels. The design will be used as normal cover art but it will definitely also be shown smaller, as on iTunes.

Hello everybody,

I'd like to let you know that after sending out our poll and getting a lots of responses the winner by a whisker has been selected. More people chose the winning design because it was original, had humor, worked well with the color scheme of the video, was easy to understand and read all text at a thumbnail size and, perhaps most importantly, was memorable in a way that matched the music style. 

I Would like to thank everyone for designing some really incredible stuff that made it incredibly hard to choose ... Thus the delay in making the final selection.
