Hi Angela,

I'm Gavin. I will tell you a little about my project and why I invited you to submit some designs.

My wife and I are setting up a t shirt printing business. We have sourced the latest digital printing equipment and are looking at developing a premium t shirt line. If the designers are Australian then all the better because we are trying to keep everything in Australia. We have sourced good quality Australian made t shirts and the designs we are looking for at the moment will be for that range. This range of shirts will be sold in the $45 to $50 area.

The project itself is to find designers who we would like to work with in the future. We are looking for the designer to really unleash their creative flair and not be constrained in any way. It's an opportunity to really be artistic. The reason, however, why I invited you was that I liked the designs in your portfolio, and I would like to see some more of your work without being constrained by having a client request something in particular.

When we get running what we are hoping to do is showcase Australian graphic artists' work in the same way that an art gallery showcases an artist's work. It's just that the medium will be t shirts. The design work will initially be paid for by us, and as sales volumes increase we are looking at doing things like limited editions (perhaps for higher prices), and providing artists commissions on their work.

So I'm pleased that you accepted my offer and I'm looking forward to seeing your work.

Best regards,

Gavin Melhuish

Does it all have to be in illustrator? because Photoshop is better for painting but the vector will be in illustrator

by Project Owner on Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Hi Laleh,

No, Photoshop is better for some things I agree, but either the resolution will need to be really high (at least 600 dpi) in the final image if you use Photoshop, or it will need to convert easily to vector. That''s due to the quality that our equipment is capable of printing and that we want to present to our customers.

Regards

Gavin

are gory designs fine? i have plenty of work to show though

by Project Owner on Sunday, September 2, 2012

Gory designs are fine. I'm looking for the artistic aspect of the design that captures some of the soul of the artist and not necessarily the subject matter as such.

Hi,
Can you please attach a picture of the vector you are looking for to make an idea of your imagination?

do u consider freehand desighns or it should be on programs and they are such as ?

by Project Owner on Tuesday, September 4, 2012

Yes I do consider freehand however they need to be of high quality and would likely need manipulation in a design program after import. I would be looking at a 600dpi scan and then depending on the complexity, conversion and cleanup into a vector format.

I have had some work done in Photoshop PSD format. Getting it printed this week to see results but that should be OK if the resolution is high enough. Also Illustrator and it's related vector format files are OK. I use Serif products so also happy to accept files in those formats as well.

Regards

Gavin
