Logo Design Brief
For the past 11 years I have been working for the Public Defender's Office as an Attorney in Baltimore City, Maryland. I have decided to take the chance and go out on my own. I want to move away from practicing all criminal law to doing more civil litigation, like family (divorce, custody) and personal injury etc.
My husband is really nervous for me and I assured him that I was not going to spend a lot of money to start this business. I have been trying to come up with a logo and website that will show that I am an attorney, but also be interesting, creative and contemporary. I have not been so successful and that is how I ended up here. Since I have not decided to specialize in a particular area of law, that will lead to a generic logo??? (Like something with the scales of justice) I found a clip art - of all things that I really like, but I am not sure how to make it my own?
I cut and pasted it below. It is a women's silhouette holding the scales of justice and it is in the clip art on Microsoft Word. I think that would be different if it could somehow be Kerri Cohen..... I also found in istockphoto.com - the word JUSTICE with an old fashioned key over the "T" and I thought Kerri - your key to justice. (don't know if that is cheesy...) Perhaps just something with the "K" and "C" and maybe even the "L" for Law Office making the letters look cool and legal-like? These are the ideas that I had.
Updates
Dear Designers,
I am so impressed with all of the work that I have seen today! This is amazing. I am not sure what to choose, but I do know that I will pick on for sure! So I have removed the "refundable." YAY!
Thank you for listening to all of my feedback and trying to accommodate my requests...It is really fun to work with you all.
I am looking forward to narrowing it down tomorrow and making a choice. I am thinking that second and third place deserve something too so I will figure that out tomorrow.
Thank you again,
Kerri Cohen

Reason: I am getting really close and I think I need a couple of extra days to make the decision. My husband is away and he will be back soon and I want to go over them with him. I am a little torn since I love a few of them so much...it's hard! And a few are making the last little changes that I think will seal the deal. I don't want to run out of time....
Thanks for giving me a few extra days,
Kerri

So, believe it or not, the consensus is that the woman is too feminine and I
should not use the woman - it is not what I am trying to portray and it
will give a wrong impression. (especially if it is too sexy, i.e. hair flowing, short skirt, etc.) So, I am eliminating the woman
altogether. So sorry. I think the way I will have to be feminine is to add RED
color to it a bit. But I am up for suggestions.
I really don't love the scales - another legal icon would be good, but I don't know what...also up for suggestions. I still would like it to be
creative, professional and just unique...and modern. Sorry to drive you
all crazy....I think this process is driving me crazy....~Kerri

Thanks for your patience,
