Web Design Brief

We need to design the look and feel for an innovation company with software products for solving complex IT problems following socio-technical theory thinking. The company is heavy in designing of complex systems (like an architect shop). The new design will form the foundation of our brand moving forward. We will approach software projects as if one is building a skyscraper or a bridge. We want to humanize technology and not the other way around. Our target groups will be healthcare and the environment. We will be able to take complex problems and turn them into amazing IT solutions that improve the quality of life for people.

Motivation

The technology described in the application, coincides with “Manage-By-Wire” concept of Steve Haeckel, which suggests managing a business by managing an informational representation of it : Steve had the following vision:

"Imagine an enterprise design model that defines the behavior of an entire business. Imagine making this model a part of the corporate informational infrastructure, implementing it on technology that connects all relevant sources and users of information and affords maximum sharing among all parts of the firm. Managers could respond to the read-outs appearing on the console, modifying the flight plan en route based on changes in external conditions, monitoring the performance of delegated responsibilities, sending coordinated directions to subsidiary functions, and experiencing exhilaration upon their execution. It constitutes institutional memory and intelligence, which augment management's ability to run the business”.

This product does what Mr. Haeckel envisioned.

The Objective

DBI offers software products for the specification, construction, assembly, and ongoing management of a digital representation that is an exact mirror image of an enterprise. The main idea is the capability of managing the enterprise by managing an information technology representation of it through software. The idea is to manage the enterprise as a total system involving all aspects of operations. That makes the enterprise and all its information technology representation is inseparable. The implication is that the management of change at the business and IT infrastructure levels are unified. For example, by reconfiguring the information representation of the enterprise one can change business performance. By changing the configuration of the business representation one can actually change the organization’s ability to respond to internal and external events. Management leadership can act with the aid of technology to better respond and improve their ability to guide the organization. The knowledge management feature of the digital representation of the enterprise enables managers to monitor the impact of change and therefore help management assess risk and determine whether mitigating responses are necessary.

The technology and product defines a new approach for the design, implementation, and ongoing execution of software systems that are truly business-like rather than applications and workflows.
