We are a boutique film production company that does projects ranging from feature-length films to music videos to commercials. Our production company is called Crowbait Pictures, a title that was born from our love of subversive, dark films. The definition of the term "crowbait" is a worn-out, emaciated horse (thus attracting crows who are looking for their next meal). While we love the idea of an artistic logo that is somewhat dark and macabre, our logo needs to be neutral enough that we can use it on all of our projects- everything from horror movies to medical documentaries to happy music videos. That is why we really need a true artist who can draw a beautiful logo that is both intriguing and iconic.
Our original logo idea:
An emaciated horse, standing on a simple hand-drawn horizon line. It’s alone, exhausted, starving.
-It’s head should be drooping, hair of the mane is scraggly and different lengths, tumbling down over the neck and face. (see my terrible, hand-drawn image below for mane idea)
-Wind should be blowing the tail inward a bit, maybe the mane a tiny bit too...
-Hind legs should be somewhat inward and pointing a tiny bit to the front legs (see the Native American Images attached for what I mean by the horse stances I am describing. Horse should be in a position kind of like that, but legs can’t be quite that dramatic…)
-There should be a hint of the outline of ribs showing, but not so much that it looks too skeleton and scary.
HERE’S THE TRICK:
-Can’t be too scary looking
-NO ANIME STYLE DESIGNS
-Overall the logo has to be very designed and iconic looking, something we can put on business cards and the website. While this is certainly an artistic piece, it can’t look too hand-drawn or sketched. Probably needs to be simple lines, mostly clean and modern looking.
-See image below for the book FEATHERS. These clean, thick & thin lines, using negative and positive space, simple but still artistic…this is so far the best “feel” that we have liked.
-Color scheme will probably end up being black & white, or else simple (no more than 3-4 colors, more neutral and muted tones, earthy feel)
Crowbait Pictures Font:
-Originally we were thinking a hand-drawn font, but in order to keep it more modern and clean, probably needs a modern font.
***Even with all of the specific looks and instructions I have given, we are still open to something entirely different if you have a creative idea that goes in a different direction or is nothing like this. We love creativity!!!***
