Poster Design Brief

I am looking for a poster design for my festival inspired by the movie True Romance starring Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette. It needs to be 11x17 in 300 DPI or higher. This will be printed with digital printing so the design can't be crazy colorful or intricate in design. Backgrounds should be more on the simplistic side. It can be vertical or horizontal. It can't have exact likenesses of the actors nor do I really want to go in that direction. I prefer the "artsy" type of image. If you've never seen the film, you are probably not a fit for my project. I'm looking for someone who will put some love into this. I've attached some images of other artists designs that I kind of like so you understand the direction I want to go in. I also had an idea of some faceless characters that would only wear the characters signature sunglasses and clothes (I have attached an image, that is similar to what I mean). I am open to ideas, just make it COOL. If I love it I would probably use you again for next year's Fest. It should include the words "TRUE ROMANCE FEST"

It can also include "SAFARI INN - BURBANK, CA. MAY 2-3, 2014". NOT 100% necessary it it kills your design, but the name of the Fest must be in there. You could also just do the location without the dates. I already have 1 print designed and I'm looking for a new one.

You also could use the Safari Inn sign, but also not necessary, just giving you some ideas. I added a pic below

UPDATE:

For those who haven't joined this project yet or may want to submit another design, I might add a 2nd and 3rd place, also I have 1 more design idea. I have uploaded 2 images. I was thinking of a "pinup style" cartoon characters of Clarence and Alabama. I couldn't find an example that I liked for Clarence but here are some similar styles that could be used for Alabama. You need to make both Clarence and Alabama in a similar style. I could be full figure or half figure. You could re-create a famous scene from the movie or you can just pose them. They should be in their main costumes from the film and have their sunglasses on

Updates

Thanks to everyone who participated. We couldn't decide which one we liked best so we created a 2nd place and bought them both. Both were created by the same artist Donn Marlou Ramirez!  Congrats!

Special mention to R. Sarang (We liked it but I think it was a little more feminine for our male crowd), Brian Kim (We liked it, but decided on another, sorry!), Reuben (I wished you would have sent me the revision), Mmojica Design (A True Fan) and Dejan Dobric (most original idea but I don't think it was a fit)

Requirements
Must have
  • "TRUE ROMANCE FEST" as the title of the piece in a style that fits the image or the bullet-font shown below would be my preference, but not 100% necessary.
Nice to have
  • There is a bullet-riddled font that was used on the DVD. It would be cool if I could get TRUE ROMANCE FEST in that same type font with bullet holes and all. At the very least the font style should be the same. Please design something that is open to font change if I don't like it. You can do something that matched the style of your art but be prepared to change if I'm not crazy about it. Thx!

The colors I chose above are just suggestions.
Should not have
  • No exact liknesses to the actors. Caricatures/cartoons etc would be fine if you went in that direction
