Logo Design Brief
Hello designers. Our company is Roscoe Martin, LLC. Thanks for looking at our job. We need a fresh bold logo, business card and email signature block (ready for 5 people) for our executive recruitment firm based in Ventura, CA. It's a pretty quick turn...sorry about that. Hope you have some time to dedicate to us. Here the short story:
After a successful two years in business, we're distinctly seeing our reputation emerge through some very kind endorsements we have received, and our existing design work needs an overhaul to reflect that.
ABOUT US: We're a small (by choice), niche recruiting firm focussed largely on supplying executive-level talent for small to midsize Oil and Gas companies (but we're not limited to that industry, so it should not specifically be a part of the logo graphically). Our clients say we are quick studies... buttoned-up, efficient, nimble... extremely pleasant and easy to work with, always respectful of their time. We've become known for our recruiting power, meaning we can find and vet choice candidates fast, even when they are under the radar (as the best one often are.) The logo should communicate a friendly boldness, a legitimacy and an authentic confidence. We're not IBM in size, personality or color; but we're not a hip food trailer or a loosely organized sole proprietorship, either. With a 9-yr, proven track record for success, we are accomplished and in this business for the long haul. Because we are entrusted by very focused and often, very entrepreneurial companies to find key (and hard to find) people, we must be taken seriously. The clients who hire us and who need to respond well to the logo are often between 35-65 years old, are most often highly-degreed professionals and executives.
SPECIFICS: We are currently using a graphic we call "little people" which we like and you may or may not use, edit or somehow adapt to the final design. While we prefer the use of color, the logo must also look good in black and white. Additionally, please limit special text effects that get lost in small version. Ultimately, we want both a horizontal and vertical rendition. For the business card, a simple, clean and professional look and feel will work the best. Thanks, and good luck!
Updates
Hi everyone. Sorry for the down day yesterday on our end, will have initial feedback TODAY. Thanks so much for engaging with us on this project.

Hi everyone. Thanks again for your work. We had a great meeting on our end and believe there are 3-4 strong contenders right now, plus a few other designs that are in the zone but need tweaks. Ultimately, this package will need to include both a vertical and a horizontal version, a biz card and an email signature, too, so we will be asking some of you for one next step in the extensions. We'll be eliminating about ten of the designs completely, but will try to give specific feedback to everyone - even those we eliminate. I'm sure you have noticed that we have guaranteed the payment, so this is a firm-pay job. And there is still 5 days left. We appreciate your work.

Hello there. Thanks again for everyone's terrific efforts. Our project closes today, so we will be regrouping ASAP and making our selections. I apologize for the lack of communication late last week. We will be eliminating designs throughout the day, so by tomorrow we should have a final selection. We have 2-3 top interests at this point and are appreciative of all additional entries we see after the weekend.
