Logo Design Brief

We need a logo design for a new and exciting basketball academy being developed in Melbourne, Australia. The purpose of this academy is to provide kids from 11 - 19 the opportunity to develop the fundamentals required to maximise their talent and get US college playing opportunities. The academy is called Elite Pathways Basketball, and has a network of high school early morning academies where the aim is to develop a cohort of elite players who can then be plugged into our US-based network of high school, junior college, and senior college contacts for scouting purposes. The ethos of the business is captured in the statement "Potential Unlimited". This is also the tag line for the business. The logo should connote strength, authority, integrity, and should also be such that it can be used on clothing and merchandise. All ideas are welcome at this point, including those that want to incorporate basketball imagery in them. Although in my own minds eye, I see some form of heraldry or shield, something in that traditional form, with a vector graphic in the body of the shield. Maybe a silhouette of a basketball move, but obviously not like the Air Jordan or NBA silhouette.
