Magazine Design Brief

I wanted to create a zine template in inDesign or but could use some design expertise. I have attached my draft doc. the zine will sometimes be 32 pages, or 40 pages (8.5inches x 11, folded in 1/2). the publicaton is photocopied so placing pages in right order is important for easier assembly. I can attach sample.

I am open to masthead improvement (paper cantina...content you can feel). But needs to look more like "hand made" -not too slick. I am open to changing icon (pen dipping in water making waves...) to something that suggests a tactile, sensory impact.

I will fill in content myself for each edition. But need page set ups that is column grid based. So I can play with layout. But wanted a core based design that can make sure each edition is coherent.

Title page-same format but of course different theme, main pic, and contents
Letter from Editor/Table of Contents-again, format same, but content will change
Need 1 double page layout with double column layout option
1 double page layout with single column layout option
Maybe one with triple column layout option.

Common page number format-using shoe icon
I like idea of common theme based header or footer on each page
Add bus card info under Counterpose press

Needs to have at least 1/2 inch margin around edges as it is copied and don't want content to bleed off page.

REmember pages stapled so need enough space between columns in middle to allow for staple and still read content

DOes this make sense? Essentially looking for a mag layout for zine (which is just using std letter size paper, folder, and stapled to make a zine (like a pamphlet). I uploaded a few samples of layouts and how the pages work.
