Logo Design Brief

I am starting up a photography business and I am in a need of logo.

My focus are in lifestyle/candid family photography and portraiture using natural light. ("True & natural & little moments of everyday life.") Although I now have also stock photos on my website (www.escoveries.com) - that will not be included in my business in the future.

I would like simple and modern/elegant design, with natural colours, preferably shades of black/white/grey. My company name is escoveries and my own name is Essi Sten, so my initials E&S could be used on the logo. I love simplicity. It is enough to have text escoveries on the logo, but also text photography can be used.

Hello!

Regarding to my need for a logo - I have received many really nice designs, and few of them already considering. But hence there is still some time left, I wanted to give my feedbag in general / update my request.

Although I prefer simple and modern style, I have found myself to been most fond of those designs that are simple ones, but have had also some more decorative (or should I say feminine) part in it. I am not so much a person that goes into flowers etc, but some decorative beautiful shapes have really drawn my attention and especially when my initials (ES) have been included in that purpose. (I also noticed that in my first brief I have written my initials E&S - these should just be two letters so: E S ). My photography style is lifestyle, but also going more toward fine art photography, due witch I believe I also have liked those more decorative ones.

In addition most of the drafts have included picture of camera or lens etc. Many of these have been nice stylish creative ones, but I am not sure if I want a picture of camera in my logo, hence it is used so much in this photography business. At least I am not so into the ones where you can immediately see a camera etc. In this sense I could also say that I am looking for something that rather gives hints of the business than directly shows what I am doing. Especially if the word photography is included.

I will use the logo much, as it will be used when adding watermarks to my photos, so I need to consider my logo from that aspect also. When thinking a watermark - best works bigger ones (not so easy to remove) that at the same time don't cover too much or distract the image. Usually wide long and narrow ones, at least for my eyes, have worked best. (Not sure if I can explain in my english what I mean, in that case - please check out for example www.facebook/escoveries and last images where I just have my signing and word www.escoveries.com as a watermark.)

When dealing with large number of photos, I am not always able the decide visually best place for watermarks, but just must use same place for all images I am handling, and usually "the safest" place is just some of the corners. In that sense the longer and narrow logo also works best for me.

But if my future logo would be more square -shaped, I believe I would just need some variation of it to use as a watermark. Maybe it could be even handled by just me adding some text beside it (my future slogan maybe) when using as a watermark. So eventually the shape of the logo is not so important as long as it doesn't cover (" i.e. large painted areas") too much of the image.

I surely should have mentioned these above things immediately when starting up this project, but basically these things have cleared to me after receiving these first variations of designs.

Thank You,

Essi Sten
