Poster Design Brief

I need a poster for a fantasy action movie called "Geert the Elf," about an atypical elf who gets dragged kicking and screaming into an epic quest to save the world despite all his efforts to avoid it.

It's foremost a solid action movie in a fantasy setting, replete with sword fights and sorcery and sweeping battles between good and evil, but it also sends up all the traditional fantasy tropes. It's not a spoof at all, but more like how "Shaun of the Dead" poked fun at zombie movies while at the same time being a masterful zombie movie itself.

In that vein, the poster should look straight-faced, like the one-sheets from The Lord of the Rings, with undertones of its tongue-in-cheek nature. I want it to feature the faces of the four primary characters (described below), as well as a range of obsidian mountains, which play a big role in the story. The primary magic relic in the story is a horn carved with runes, so that can serve as a design element.

The movie hasn't actually been made yet, so there's no need to include the credits block, but I do want the title in the image, and maybe the words "A Screenplay by Stephen Stull." I'd rather not see any of the old cliche fantasy typefaces.

Here are the big players in the movie:

Geert the elf
Geert is the antithesis of fantasy movie elves and gorgeous action heroes in general. He's grizzled, middle-aged, a bit paunchy, and has a scowl permanently etched onto his face. He's completely bald, with pointed ears that stick out above his head, and instead of anything as graceful as a bow or sword, he wields an ugly pickaxe in battle. Ideal casting: Michael Chiklis.

Reyna the human
Reyna is a young sorceress, wide-eyed and a bit naive, but a capable magician. She has an unruly shock of curly red hair and wears sensible traveling clothes (no robes or glorified nightgowns). Ideal casting: Sara Paxton.

Harvel the dwarf
Harvel is the last of his race, apparently in his early 60s, stocky, his face creased amply with both smile lines and frown lines. He has a lush white beard long enough to tuck into his belt (which he does) and a round nose that belies a history of heavy drinking. He wears a simple skullcap over his close-cropped hair. Ideal casting: Patton Oswalt.

The General of the goblin army
The General is a stout and fleshy goblin, his lumpy skin the color of snot. He wears a motley of filthy animal hides and a helmet with a pair of enormous stag horns mounted on it. His face, most often curled in a contemptuous sneer, is criss-crossed with scars. Ideal casting: John Travolta (in, like, a ton of makeup).

Earth tones should dominate the palette, but I'd rather they not be as washed out as they tend to be in modern fantasy movie posters.

The movie is funny, but not comical. Overall, I want people to see the poster and know that they're in for a serious sword-and-sorcery flick that doesn't waste time on long monologues or tragic romances.

UPDATE
I added some photos of the actors I mentioned. Some of them will need some creative interpretation, of course (I couldn't find a picture of Patton Oswalt with a huge beard, and it turns out that John Travolta is not, in fact, a goblin).
