Logo Design Brief

I'm looking for a distinctive and professional logo for my new retail business (Rumah Home) based in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, Australia.

Rumah Home will be an affordable boutique retail store (something for everyone, but not a discount store), specialising in Indonesian-inspired furniture, homewares and lifestyle products. Much of the stock will be sourced directly from Indonesia and will feature timber furniture, carved and handcrafted pieces, decorative objects, textiles, earthy soft furnishings and clothing, and relaxed coastal-inspired homewares.

The brand should communicate warmth, character, authenticity and a relaxed, natural lifestyle. I want customers to feel that Rumah Home is a welcoming, carefully curated store with beautiful and interesting products, rather than a generic furniture retailer or an expensive, exclusive interior design showroom.

The overall aesthetic should be earthy, warm, natural, relaxed and timeless. Think a contemporary Australian boutique with Indonesian craftsmanship, natural materials and a relaxed coastal feel.

The logo should feel bold but welcoming, stylish but approachable, and distinctive enough to stand out from other homewares and lifestyle brands.

ChatGPT produced a logo featuring elegant, strong typography paired with a simple architectural arch or house-shaped symbol, incorporating a doorway and small stoop. I liked the combination of the typography, earthy colour palette and understated architectural icon; however, the palm tree felt too beachy, and the arched doorway/stoop looked a bit like a gravestone. I am happy to see variations of what ChatGPT created or something completely original. I have also added a second ChatGPT logo today (Wed 14th October) for reference. I like the simple icon, colour scheme and text, plus the "Furniture - Homewares - Lifestyle" underneath (although it is not essential). I'm happy to see variations of this, or even a combination of the two different logos, but something that is not too busy.
