In the fire department, most individual stations have a patch to creatively identify and represent each crew. The Virginia Beach Fire Department Station 5 is looking to recreate their station patch. Station 5 is located in the courthouse/municipal district of the city, which borders more rural farmhouse areas, so they’ve taken on the moniker “the Courthouse Cowboys.”
Because approval processes amongst three shifts can be tricky, they’ve created a few preliminary designs through AI, but are looking for a true artist to create and stylize the final product. We’ve attached those images as general guidelines for the subject of the patch, but also included examples of other well-done patches from across the city. Most patches are designed within and interact with a Maltese cross, which is a unique shape and synonymous with the fire department, but this is not a hard and fast rule. They’re looking to stick closely to the AI-generated design, but are very interested in seeing the artists unique style come through.
The first image is what we’ve come up with using ai. The Bull and lion are patches different stations within the dept as examples.
The words “ Engine, Brush and Tanker” need to be somewhere on the patch. Either that or the shorthand “E5,B5 and T5” could work in place of the word if space is a concern.
