Logo Design Brief

We're looking for a talented designer to give The District Cup's existing logo a patriotic update celebrating America's 250th birthday. The District Cup is Washington, D.C.'s premier charity polo tournament, held annually on the National Mall — and our 2026 edition is themed "The World Rides to The Mall: Polo Passport Celebrates America's 250th."
The Ask:
Take our existing navy and gold logo and infuse it with quincentennial spirit. Think: Americana gravitas meets D.C. civic elegance. This is not a full redesign — it's a celebratory refresh that honors the milestone while staying true to our brand identity.
Brand Guidelines:

Primary colors: Navy and gold (existing palette)
Typeface: Josefin Sans Bold
Tone: Elevated, civic, patriotic — think State Department meets polo club, not carnival bunting
Must remain clean and versatile (digital, print, embroidery, jersey)

What to Keep:

Core logo structure and mark
Navy and gold as the foundation
Overall sophistication and legibility

What to Add:

A nod to America's 250th — whether through stars, stripes, a subtle "250" integration, laurels, or other iconography
A sense of occasion — this is a once-in-a-generation milestone event

Deliverables:

A version with and without the "250th" anniversary callout

Must have

• I've added a version of a logo that the only element I like is how the flag looks on the top. It would be nice if on the left and right side of the logo we had four metallic gold stars to mark the 8th year of the district cup. Instead of Established 2017 or America's 250th on the bottom of the logo please put Polo on The Mall.
