Logo Design Brief

LOGO & VISUAL IDENTITY CREATION BRIEF
Hôtel La Rotonde, La Croix-Valmer (Var)
1. Project Context
Hôtel La Rotonde, located in La Croix-Valmer, is a historic establishment that has been part of the local landscape since 50’s and is recognized as an iconic place in the village. The hotel has recently been taken over by new owners. The goal is to modernize its image while respecting its history and authenticity. This location is the center of the village, in a round-about, that we see wherever you come from. We would like to keep the charm of this « family » house, be a central place where people can come to take a coffee in the reception. It’s a small place, but it should be very well-known by each person who lives in la Croix Valmer.
Currently, the hotel lacks a coherent visual identity:
• A typography is present on the façade (old, elegant, Art Deco) that we want to keep — Avenida Std.
• No structured logo, no defined graphic system.
We therefore want to create a new brand identity focused on a strong, elegant, and versatile
logo.
2. Main Objective
Create a premium, timeless logo for hôtel La Rotonde that can:
• Modernize the hotel’s image (give it a fresh look)
• Preserve its authenticity and history
• Convey a higher-end / luxury hotel perception
• Support a future upscale positioning (goal: exceed the current 2-star rating to 3-star hôtel)
The logo should work across all applications (signage, website, stationery, wayfinding, merchandise, social media). This logo will be written above the name la Rotonde like ‘a stamp’
3. Desired Positioning
Charming, historic hotel with a Côte d’Azur / Riviera spirit and a premium ambition.
Positioning keywords:
• Authentic
• Elegant
• Chic
• Riviera
• Art Deco / Gatsby
• Local heritage
• High-end hospitality
• Timeless
The final result should not feel “too modern / cold” or “too dusty vintage.” We seek balance: visual renovation without losing the soul of the place.
4. Target Audience
• French and international tourists
• Couples, leisure travelers, Côte d’Azur clientele
• Guests seeking a charming, well-located hotel with character and a refined experience
• During the winter most of the customers are workers or profesiional people, people who visit their family. During summer, it’s more tourist customers, mainly in couple, few children.
• Eventually: more premium clientele, boutique-hotel style
5. Key Constraints
A. Façade typography to keep: Avenida Std
The current façade typography (photo attached) is a strong identity element. It must be:
• Retained as is (vectorized)
• Typography style: Avenida Std → this typography will form the basis of the brand.
B. Versatile logo (emblem/symbol)
We want a logo composed of:
• A logotype (name: “Hôtel La Rotonde”)
• A symbol/emblem usable on its own (social media, favicon, seal, merchandise) ⚠We do NOT want:
• A classic monogram with interlaced letters (“LR”)
• A drawing of the building or the façade
The emblem should be subtle, graphic, and elegant.
6. Inspirations / Expected Visual Universe
The logo should evoke:
• The hotel’s architecture (rounded / rotunda shape)
• The “village square” spirit, local monument
• The Riviera and Mediterranean elegance
• A chic, charming hotel
The identity should feel refined, trustworthy, and hospitality-oriented. References:
• Art Deco (elegant luxury, graphic lines, symmetry)
• Côte d’Azur (warmth, light, authenticity)
7. Possible Graphic Directions (to explore)
The designer is free to explore but may consider:
• A circular-based symbol
• Art Deco-inspired graphic treatment: fine lines, geometry, balance
The result should remain simple, legible, and high-end.
8. Desired Tone & Perception
The logo should convey:
• A sense of an iconic place
• Trust and stability

• Discreet elegance (not flashy)
• Warmth and hospitality
Avoid:
• Logos that are too vintage
• Overly complex or busy logos
• Obvious clichés (palms, waves, generic hotel icons, stars)
9. Expected Applications & Variants
The logo must work perfectly in the following formats:
Main applications:
• Façade / signage
• Website
• Social media
• Google Business / booking platforms
• Stationery (cards, letterheads, envelopes)
• Interior and exterior signage
• Door plates / room numbers
• Menus / breakfast menus
• Merchandise (robes, towels, tote bags)
• Stamps / seals
• Vehicle branding
Necessary formats:
• Horizontal version
• Vertical version
• Compact version
• “Symbol only” version
• Monochrome version (black/white)
• Embossing / engraving version (single color, no gradients)
• Favicon / web icon
10. Color Preferences (art direction)
Palette should evoke luxury hospitality while remaining Mediterranean. Possible suggestions (optional):
• Red
⚠Avoid loud or overly touristy colors.
11. Secondary Typography
In addition to the primary façade typography, one or two complementary fonts should be proposed for:
• Titles
• Body text

• Web and print materials Typography pair must be coherent:
• Signature typography: Avenida Std (mandatory)
• Secondary typography: contemporary, legible (modern sans-serif or serif)
12. Deliverables Logo:
• Main vector logo
• Variants (horizontal, vertical, compact)
• Emblem / symbol usable alone
• Black/white and monochrome versions
Files:
• AI / EPS / PDF vector
• PNG transparent background (high resolution)
• JPG
• SVG for web
Mini brand guide:
• Color codes (CMYK, RGB, HEX)
• Recommended fonts
• Usage rules (margins, minimum sizes)
• Application examples (simple mockups if possible)

13. Technical Constraints
• Logo must be legible at small sizes (favicon, stamp)
• Must work in one color
• No overly fine details that disappear in print
• Adaptable for exterior signage
14. Final Message to Convey
Hôtel La Rotonde should appear as:
• A historic village hotel, iconic, elegant, and authentic, entering a more premium aera
The logo should be both:
• A tribute to the history of the place
• A modern identity for the future 15. Exact Name to Use
HÔTEL LA ROTONDE (Location sometimes added: La Croix-Valmer) To specify depending on proposal:
• “Hôtel La Rotonde”
• “La Rotonde”
• “Hôtel La Rotonde – La Croix-Valmer” (secondary version)
16. Timeline / Organization (to be completed)
• Desired date for first proposals: [2026.13.02]
Ultra-Short Summary (for email header if needed):
Creation of a premium logo for Hôtel La Rotonde (La Croix-Valmer). Preserve the spirit and ideally the façade typography (Art Deco / Gatsby). Create a full logo + a versatile emblem (no interlaced LR monogram). Style: Riviera boutique hotel, chic, timeless, authentic, upscale.

Target Market(s)

budget-conscious travellers looking to holiday or visit the French Riviera. The aim is to upgrade the hotel and eventually achieve a three-star rating.
