We need a logo design for our non-profit. Alaska Native Unity is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening Alaska Native self-determination through education, capacity-building, and economic empowerment. Our work supports Alaska Native people, Tribes, and communities in building sustainable enterprises and community-based initiatives. Our purpose is to provide education, training, and support that reduces barriers to small business formation, business readiness, and economic participation. We operate in a way that centers collective benefit, cultural respect, and long-term community strength.
We are seeking a logo that is:
• Professional and credible
• Culturally respectful and authentic (NOT stereotypical or generic)
• Modern and sleek, but grounded
• Strong, clear, and memorable
• Appropriate for a nonprofit serving Alaska Native communities
• Suitable for long-term use across programs, website, and events
The logo should communicate:
• Unity
• Strength
• Self-determination
• Growth and empowerment
• Community and collective progress
• Education and capacity-building
Preferred Visual Direction: We welcome clean, modern interpretations rather than overly complex or decorative designs. Designers may explore concepts inspired by Alaska, land, and community, such as:
• Abstract representations of unity, connection, or gathering
• Natural elements (mountains, river, northern lights, land, horizon)
• Subtle references to Alaska Native values (without copying specific tribal crests or sacred symbols)
• Circular or interconnected forms symbolizing unity and collective strength
Important Cultural Guidance: Subtle, respectful inspiration is encouraged, but authenticity and professionalism are most important.
Please DO NOT use:
• Generic dreamcatchers
• Totem poles copied directly
• Sacred or ceremonial symbols
• Pan-Native stereotypes
• Clip-art style “tribal” graphics
Color Preferences: Open to designer creativity, but colors that may work well include:
• Deep blue (trust, stability, Alaska sky/water)
• Teal or blue-green (growth, renewal)
• Earth tones (grounded, connection to land)
• White accents (clarity, integrity)
• Avoid overly bright neon or corporate-tech color schemes.
Typography Preferences Overall Tone: Professional, culturally respectful, modern, and grounded in community strength and Alaska identity. The logo should feel timeless and credible, not trendy or corporate.
• Clean, modern, professional fonts
• Not overly corporate or aggressive
• Avoid overly decorative or hard-to-read fonts
• Should convey credibility, strength, and accessibility
