Logo Design Brief

We need a logo for our organisation.

About the organisation
Rare Invertebrates in the Cairngorms (RIC) is a conservation focused partnership dedicated to understanding and protecting five threatened invertebrate species across the Cairngorms. The project aims to improve the long term conservation prospects of these species by surveying their distribution, recruiting and training local volunteers to assist with surveys, and working collaboratively with landowners to protect and enhance key habitats.

RIC operates in the Cairngorms, in the Scottish Highlands, but has visibility across the wider UK conservation community.

Target audience.
- Mixed aged volunteers with an equal male/female split.
- Conservation minded members of public.
- Landowners, partners, and stakeholders in conservation.
- The logo should inspire trust, credibility and excitement, encouraging people to engage with the project and feel confident in its conservation value.

Brand personality and positioning
- Personality traits: Knowledgeable, friendly, modern, engaging.
- Positioning: Professional, conservation-led, community focused.
- Comparable organisations: Buglife / Butterfly Conservation
- The brand should feel authoritative and credible, without being overly corporate or formal.

Logo style and Creative direction
- The logo should incorporate invertebrate imagery, ideally featuring some (or all) of the threatened invertebrate species associated with the project (attached images).
- The logo should include either: RIC or Rare Invertebrates in the Cairngorms.

Style guidance
- Modern and / or playful, but not cartoony
- Professional and suitable for a conservation organisation
- Engaging and accessible to non-specialists
- There are no fixed requirements for colours or fonts.
