Outstanding audiobook cover (see details below) for 'The Unexpurgated Code' by J.P. Donleavy. It is a subversive, literary guide full of ironic rules of etiquette, written in the style of an etiquette guide - but with completely absurd, funny, almost anarchic content. It is a mixture of social satire, dark humour and subtle British-Irish cynicism. Some chapter titles:
Upon Being Snubbed, Upon Making the Contract for the Rubout, Upon the Nearby Arrival of a Flying Saucer, Upon Embellishing Your Background
The book is a cult classic for people with a penchant for literary eccentricity - like an etiquette guide for snobs, eccentrics and social failures, but with the dignity of a tweed-wearing Irish gentleman gangster.
Design style & mood: Ironic, literary, clever, eccentric, sophisticated - with a dash of madness
Look & feel: Mixture of Classic book cover (e.g. 1950s etiquette guide) with British-Irish upper class aesthetic (tweed, cognac, top hat, Victorian flair) with bizarre/absurd details (e.g. someone slips on an etiquette banana) - these are just examples!
Inspirations: Monty Python meets Jane Austen / Edward Gorey meets PG Wodehouse
