Logo Design Brief

We need a logo design for a company in New Zealand. We provide a service where we do Spiritual Insights, Dream Interpretation, Healing, Dream Building, etc. Our byline is "Interpreting Your Dreams & Discovering Your Destiny". We mainly do this at Markets and cafes but we also do motivational speaking for businesses. At this point we have a free wix website www.dreams.org.nz but we will be upgrading this as well and would like to be able to have a "brand" so we can put the logo on the website, on business cards and letter heads, on a banner that will go on the gazebo, and on a portable sandwich board sign that we take around the markets. We have and will continue also to use part of our consulting to work with team building for both businesses and churches - so again the professional aspect is important.

Updates

Hi Everyone, thanks for your submissions so far - this has definitely helped clarify things, and we really want something a little bolder - quite a strong statement - I have updated the brief so you are aware that we deal not just with individuals at markets but business people and management for team building and motivational inspiration too.

Thanks
Erin

Okay guys - sorry but the Butterfly thing is looking like a no go - it is too girly and hubby and the other guys we work with do not like it.  I have updated my notes right the way through so would suggest that you read the whole brief again - this logo needs to be quite strong and make a statement and not get lost in the crowd - Maori patterns - which you can google are really quite strong and if somehow you can incorporate them into the word Dreams that would be really great - this would quite clearly say what we do and where we come from.  Because we work with Businesses too doing Dream Building, there is that aspect to consider as well as the spiritual aspect. Thanks everyone :)

Thanks for all the designs so far - unfortunately I think that it may be challenging because most of you come from other countries so for those of you that are unfamiliar with New Zealand, you may need to do a little homework with the Maori Design - it needs to look authentic - and not just a nod to a pattern.  Many thanks.

Target Market(s)

Anyone and everyone so it must appeal to a variety of demographics - those with and without any spiritual beliefs, all nationalities. We have in the past worked with business people looking at team building and fun days - so will need to be professional and not too ethereal.

Font styles to use
Other font styles liked:
  • Maybe a Tribal type font - but again still would love to see someone incorporate the word Dreams into a Tui or fantail with STRONG Maori design.

Requirements
Must have
  • The Logo needs to be strong and it must look professional and not too gimmicky. It needs to make a statement.
Nice to have
  • To be honest am thinking that the focus on the New Zealand thing is the way to go. Could incorporate Maori design even just have the word "Dreams" with Maori design on it maybe utilizing the vibrant blue and bronze (blue colours could swirl like a paua shell) so - again pointing to New Zealand. If there is anyway of making the word "Dreams" look like a Tui or fantail or using something simple like the kiwi design but NOT the kiwi either the tui or fantail could be a possibility. Strength is good! (Some of our distinctive native birds are tuis fantails - kiwis don't fly and are overused - probably best NOT to use them - just used the kiwi pic to show the colours and design) Other idea is Birds that have strings attached to them carrying the word "dreams" behind them. Birds for us have a connection to freedom. Or we could have something particularly New Zealand in the design work - i.e. mentioned the tui or fantail. Love the colours blue and bronze - and love a metallic sort of look. We have a blue gazebo so bringing out some strong bronze metallic colours might be a nice contrast
Should not have
  • We don't want it to look too "New Age" and not too feminine or fluffy as we are a husband and wife team. Not a Kiwi - this is way overused in New Zealand - hence why I have put in the other pics.
