Logo Design Brief
Bigode Martial Arts and Fitness is a Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gym. Our roots are Portuguese (Azorean). The name Bigode, meaning mustache in Portuguese, was inspired by one of the owners, who was known for his distinctive mustache during competitions. While there was initial consideration to move away from the mustache theme, our students love it, making it an integral part of our identity. Our tagline is a play on words (or sound) "Be Good Be Great"
Currently, we have two logos, but neither is scalable, professional, or well-suited for various applications like uniforms, apparel, and branding. We are looking for a unique, professional, and easily recognizable logo that represents our identity and is adaptable for different branding needs (gi, rashguard, shorts, t-shirts, etc.).
2. Goals
Create a scalable and professional logo that maintains our unique identity.
Ensure the new design is easily recognizable and adaptable for uniforms and merchandise.
Potential Option: Preserve the essence of the current “person” logo while simplifying it OR Make something new that captures our essence.
Potential Option: Lean into the Portuguese (Azorean) heritage in a subtle but impactful way.
Key Design Considerations
Scalability – Must look great on small patches, apparel, and digital platforms.
Professional yet Unique – A clean and strong design that resonates with our martial arts ethos.
Portuguese/Azorean Influence – A subtle nod to our cultural roots - not necessary but we are open!
Person Logo Update – If used, it must be simplified and made more adaptable.
No Headband – Remove or adjust the headband if keeping the "person" icon.
Open to Interpretation – A different take on a martial arts figure or symbolic representation is welcome.
Colour - Prefer monochrome for printing ease.
