Logo Design Brief

I need a logo for a new nonprofit in Los Angeles called "the Hummingbird Project". The name is taken from the hummingbird fable told by Nobel prize laureate Wangari Maathai; the idea is that all of us have the power to make the world around us better. so I like to have the hummingbird part of the logo. The organization is about taking underprivileged kids on nature outings: kayaking, hiking, visiting gardens, visiting arboretum, learning from conservationists about the richness of nature, etc. it is all about enjoying the outdoors in Southern California. so if we can capture this spirit as well.
