Logo Design Brief

Our primary business is mining and quarrying. We have identified an opportunity for a new business called "Quarry Studio" where we plan to manufacture a range of products including designer furniture from recycled materials. We are big on sustainability, yearn for a creative extension of our business and plan to use materials that would ordinarily be discarded.
We prefer a minimalistic approach to a logo design that incorporates black and turquoise colours. For almost 20 years our business has been quarrying so there may be some link to this in this logo, but ever so discretely. No machines, conveyors, safety hats etc. An idea is to incorporate topographic contour lines within the logo so that there is some connection, albeit small. An idea is that these contour lines could incorporate some colour that could represent water within its centre.

The design should communicate depth, simplicity and clean lines. Balance.

We plan to use the logo design on business cards, letterheads and also plan to have a bronze foundry cast limited edition plates with serial numbers to mark certain works. The logo therefor should have an element of depth so that this can be used to emboss business cards and also to make branded cast plate labels "contoured" with an element of depth.
Many of the products that we will take to the market will incorporate mixed media materials such as rock, steel and glass. Besides designer furniture, we will launch innovative packaged products into the perfume sector.
The focus is innovative products that are different and purpose driven. A product that is already in development is a living pod that is constructed to accommodate people in remote locations.
