My company provides software for student success. I have gone through various iterations of logos over the years, and this time I think I'd like to sit back and see what others come up with. The software is all about academic advising and student success for higher education (colleges and universities). I'd need the graphical part of the logo to look recognizable even at small scales (as it might get shrunk to be an icon), and also be somewhat square or rectangular for the same reason, though I am not 100% married to that concept.
The software is able to help students plan out courses they wish to take, facilitate communications (text messages, emails, etc) to their advisors, and schedule advising sessions. It is also a place where they can see their grades, how much longer they have until graduation, etc. The software itself is called "FlightPath". The open source version is located at: https://getflightpath.com. You can see the logo in use there, which I am looking to change or modify. I'm looking for something new to go with this business.
As the name implies, flight, mapping, or planning is a central theme I'd like to keep, but it isn't necessarily required.
I included a logo from another project I paid for and own. I'm not saying to use this logo or not, but I thought I'd include it just in case to see if it spurred any ideas.

Requirements
Must have
- A version of the logo needs to be able to have a transparent background (so it can be used on merchandise, on a web site, icon, etc.
I'd need the graphical part of the logo to look recognizable even at small scales (as it might get shrunk to be an icon), and also be somewhat square or rectangular for the same reason, though I am not 100% married to that concept.
Nice to have
- My target audience would be school administrators, presidents, provosts, registrars, etc. The logo should feel sufficiently professional that the school doesn't feel nervous paying me they money or trusting me with their student data in my software. Slightly playful is OK, but always with the understanding that it is trying to attract the attention of career academics and professionals.
