Logo Design Brief

Launching an online decorative lighting business in New Zealand selling a wide range of indoor and outdoor lights. Product categories include festoon lights, fairy lights, net lights, curtain lights, micro lights.

Think outdoor spaces including tables, lawns, decks, pergolas, balustrades, pool areas and so on. Indoors may be for a one-off event or to create that cosy ambience all year round. Commercial opportunities are with hotels, cafes, restaurants, councils, weddings etc.

We want our logo to convey our product messaging - sophisticated, quality decorative lighting that is classy and chic but also fun, aspirational and destined to evoke a big wow factor. The idea behind the name is that when someone sees our lights lit up they'll comment 'Love your Lights!'

Our product will turn essentially what could be a boring, bland outdoor space into something that adds sparkle, warmth and that wow factor ambience. Festoon lights add instant atmosphere to any indoor or outdoor space. The beauty is in their simplicity – there’s something very classic about light bulbs on a long string. Festoon lights always create just the right amount of light – hang them down a wall inside your home to create a stylish interior look, or alternatively string up in your garden or courtyard to create an inviting area for al fresco dining and home entertaining.

The logo will be used for our website (www.loveyourlights.co.nz), social media pages (instagram/facebook), marketing collateral inside the boxes (usage and instruction guides) and most importantly on each individual box of lights via a sticker format.

The product and it will all be dispatched in “plain brown” boxes. Therefore the logo needs to stand out and help to add some wow factor to what is effectively very plain packaging. It is the first thing consumers and commercial customers will see before they open the product. When that box arrives they'll be judging the product already on the look and feel of the box. We want to evoke that wow factor, excitement and anticipation of what's inside. It's also the type of product that will most likely arrive and sit around the house for a few days until you find the time to set them up. Therefore we want the logo to stand out, spark curiosity and look like a bit of fun. Don't forget to make the logo fun!

Colour wise no preference although initial thinking is black font. Colour may get a bit lost on the brown background. No preference on shape but again it will feature on website, social media, marketing collateral and most importantly square box packaging.

Have attached images of what some of the brown boxes will look like.
Also attached a sticker logo from one of the suppliers Torpex to help visualise what the sticker "size" (but don't like the look and feel of it) might be.

Approx box sizes are 29x21x13cm.
