Logo Design Brief

We need someone to design a simple, modern, logo for a real estate group in a coastal community. The parent company, HomeSmart, has design guidelines. I will provide these for reference. Our real estate group may use different colors. However, they should work well together.

This logo will be used on real estate for sale and open house signs as well as email signatures and digital and printed business cards.

Think coastal. Think luxury. $1M + properties. Think yachting, sailing, investing in real estate.

We would like to see a design that has a compass worked into it somehow, even if it is only part of one and/or somewhat transparent. I've attached my novice attempt at one. I chose a color similar to sand for the bottom and sky for the top. My color choice was definitely off and did not work well with the HomeSmart logo.
