Logo Design Brief

We are solve for x, a consulting company that helps startups build their businesses. We do strategy, finance, accounting and some sales planning and go-to-market. The business has been around for 10 years, but the logo looks like it's from 2008 and needs a refresh.

We're looking for a new logo and have itemized our requirements in the attached brief.

Requirements

Must have

• - Light to medium weight sans serif font with slightly wider kerning.
  - The “X” should look like an “X” so something too abstract will not work. The X should also tie back to the brand. Solving for x is a foundation of algebra, but lends itself to broader applications. We’re not a math company, but people immediately respond to our identity as a problem-solving company, “Solving for X” and “The X Factor” describe that “hard-to-put-it-in-words” feeling, or as the French say, je ne sais quoi.

Nice to have

• - Guidance on whether it should be Solve For X text with a separate X mark or Solve For text with X as a mark that indicates that the name is Solve For X. We can see separating the name from the mark and using the mark alone in some collateral.
  - Different color recommendations and treatments (we're totally stuck on colors)
