We added to the brief in "must not have" section:

Hands and home shapes are already present and abused in many icons and logos on the internet. If you include hand or building concepts they must be original and NOT playful idea, like for example shape of buildings remembering fingers of hand (as in attached example) or a condominium shape building instead of classic home shape

We updated the brief to make it more clear:

We would like to see two proposals:
1) be creative and propose your own idea starting from characteristics outlined in the brief
2) create a logo starting from attached idea using a same shape of fingers+condominiums+wifi and propose your own colors and font to make the logo GREAT looking. Please try to propose your own colors but also a variation with cold colors (blue, gray, cyan, violet or fucsia). Please note that colors of buildings+wifi must be at least two: one for normal state condominium and one for alarm state condominium

A brief update to let you know that I discovered now that the designer budget has not been guaranteed. I'm very sorry for that! I just opted to immediately guarantee the budget because I strongly think it is a sign of respect to your hard work.

Please try to focus only on the style (abstract, colorful and modern) of these logos, not on the graphic elements that are displayed.

You could try to follow a similar style while creating the logo with keywords and concepts for safehandy.
