Graphic Design Brief

The idea behind this project is to design a set a cards for a game. The game works as follows:

1 - Everyday you start with a deck of cards
2 - As the day progresses each card contains an action to perform
3 - If you perform that action, you move the card, face-up, to the pack of the deck
4 - If you do not perform that action, you flip the card over and place it at the back of the deck.
5 - At the end of the day, you review your deck.

The front of each card contains 3 major elements:

1 - Title
2 - Value - ie a number, score for completing the act
3 - An encouraging statement

The back of each card contains 3 elements:

1 - Title
2 - Value - ie a number, essentially a “minus” number
3 - A calligraphic symbol that will take-up of most of the card.

The back of the card is a simpler single design. The front of the card is slightly more complex. The front cards need to be of four types. The difference in types should preferably be in both color and design changes that indicate the four types.

Thus, the designer will be designing essentially 5 card faces. The back is the same for all designs, but the front four can either be variations in color / form or both.

The front facing cards are of the following types:

1 - Prayer - these are the cards that will reflect a prayer to be performed
2 - Day - these will be cards with actions to be performed on Monday, Thursday and Friday
3 - Awrād - activities that are to be performed on a daily basis
4 - Daily - activities that are to be performed on a daily basis

Overall Design Ethic

Modern board games have beautifully designed cards that are uniquely branded. The overall ethos of these cards are that they should reflect traditional Islamic art in nature. Think beautiful designed geometric patterns and calligraphy. If one can weave these design elements in a card face that is beautifully showcases the main elements - title, point and statement - that would be ideal.For this design project,

I am looking to get the 5 cards in PSDs ready for printing. I will add the front facing text and the text for the reverse except for the calligraphic panel that is linked below. Nevertheless, sample fonts and texts should be provided so that overall harmony with the design can be effectively assessed.

A circular version and square version that show in the display are very appealing. Other versions can be used if assessed to have a better fit for the design.
