We need a logo and border design for posters to increase healthy food options in food pantries in Baltimore, Maryland.
We will be working in a low-income urban setting, with volunteers at food pantries. Food pantries are generally located in community organizations like churches, schools, homeless shelters. We will talk to food pantry managers about nutrition and ask them to stock healthy options, such as lean meats, unsalted canned beans and vegetables, fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and low-sugar beverages. Food pantries give out food to people in need for free, and most managers know their clients. Therefore, pantry managers and clients form a close-knit community. We want clients to associate our program (Fresh Shelves, Healthy Pantries) with a sense of community, understanding, and positivity. We want to make healthy choices easy for people, and we want to make healthy eating more accessible and approachable. Many clients are older, and may have bad eyesight, so please keep that in mind when designing the materials.
We would like:
- A circular, green logo design that includes the name Fresh Shelves, Healthy Pantries. We will use the logo on all materials and on tote bags; so it needs to be recognizable from a distance.
- A motif/border to be used in all of our materials (posters, recipe cards, flyers).
Attached is a stocking sheet of the types of items we are asking pantries to stock for their clients, so you can get more of an idea for our project. We've also attached photos of food pantries so you can get an idea of the environment the materials will be used in.
