Graphic Design Brief
I need cover art for a CD single. The genre is Rock, I suppose, but I highly encourage listening to the song to get a feel for it. The name of the band is "The Transversals" and the name of the song is "The Long Twilight Struggle." There is a great deal of "found sound" from JFK's public domain archives, so I've been encouraged to add the "featuring JFK" line.
As far as the design goes, I'm open to interpretation, but I've been thinking that I'd like a background mainly featuring images of mass protest or mass struggle (broadly interpreted . . .) somewhat (possibly) like the one accessible at the URL below whose copyright status is unknown to me (sorry, I couldn't find a way to upload it):
https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://media.chinaworker.info/2013/08/Thatcher-Dead-2.jpg&imgrefurl=http://chinaworker.info/en/2013/04/23/1098/&h=450&w=600&tbnid=3IpAFT02NbyVFM&tbnh=194&tbnw=259&vet=1&docid=fCy6dnCU1tdhGM
I guess one of the issues with these sorts of images would be finding good ones with no copyright restrictions, which I'd want to be sure of. Also, there are probably ways of depicting the "long twilight struggle" (the struggle against tyranny, poverty, war, etc . . . as you will hear in the song).
The only lettering I envisioned on the cover would the band name and single title (which I've envisioned kind of like the bold red of the Stranger Things logo, but with black and/or white trim. This, again, is very open to interpretation or your own creativity).
Again, I'm very open to interpretation or change, but I think the above (and the uploaded song) should give you an idea about the feel of the project. Mainly I'd like someone who is also interested in the "long twilight struggle" to put together some powerful images to communicate the feeling of the struggle viscerally. You know?
I also love to be surprised, so, if you are interested and can put together something fantastic that is very different from what I've described, that could be the best way to go . . .
Thanks!
