Illustration Design Brief

We are looking to initially source 20 sets of unique and varied designs, these will be printed on tiny 20mm x 20mm (approx) plastic square ‘tiles’ , each set will have 5 unique designs all following the same theme, so you will need to be able to expand your initial design to a further FOUR additional pieces of artwork.

We are looking for highly colourful, bold, original, vibrant fun designs, whilst this product will be aimed at children, we are mindful that it is not ‘childish’ so the designs could appeal to adults as children alike.

Our consumer research tells us the following are popular and may help you in submitting your design:

Colours: Blue, Red, Purple, Gold, Pink,Silver, Monochrome and ‘Day Glo’

Themes: Sports icons, Japanese symbols and kawaii emoticons, industrial symbols, Jungle and animal, Retro, Sci-fi, Monochrome etc…

The above are really just some themes we had highlighted by children through market research, but we are not artists, nor are we trendsetters, so we are asking you to submit a single design which, should you win our Design Crowd competition, that you can expand into 5 unique designs within a range.

This range must be thought out, with a specific theme, and the inspiration for your design, so we can illustrate this as part of the mechanism to attract a consumer to purchase the design on the accessory.

The ’Accessory Template Guide’ gives you the definitive actual size of the accessory (scale 1:1) and a larger version for you to work you design into (scale 2:1)

The ‘Relative guide to insert’ is just to show you a few examples of the size relative to a few coins (US & UK) and also a few images for guidance).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Our print capability is excellent, we have been able to print very high quality sample images of cats, showing their coats and their natural patterns 100% clearly, so please feel free to make the detail as subtle or bold as you wish.

Target Market(s)

Initially the product will be sold online in the United Kingdom, however we can see the product being purchased both internationally and from ages 06 -100 years!
