Logo Design Brief

We need a a logo and branding for Mavin. Mavin will be an e and bricks and mortar membership commerce community that will connect members with deals on outdoor gear from emerging producers and encourage volunteerism as a means of environmental stewardship.

Members will be volunteers, participants and donors to organizations that help people get connected to outdoor experiences.

A portion of each purchase through Mavin will be donated to the outdoor organization of the purchasing member's choosing.

Mavin will increase environmental awareness and advocacy by broadening access to transformative outdoor experiences shared by aficionados and new enthusiasts alike.

Name origin:
Definition - A Mavin (also maven) is a trusted expert in a particular field, who seeks to pass knowledge on to others.

Founder significance - Founder Vincent ("Vince") Bowen's mother and father were hard working folks who tirelessly sacrificed to give Vince and other people in their South Bronx neighborhood exposure to the outdoor recreation activities they enjoyed. Vince is inspired by this example of sharing one’s knowledge and avocation to create Mavin. Vince's parents names, Mae and Vincent, contracted are MaeVin or Mavin.

We are inspired by current outdoor commerce sites like www.theclymb.com www.backcountry.com and www.activejunky.com combined with social commerce sites like www.igive.com, www.goodsearch.com and http://www.nootra.com/mynootra/index.php.

The Mavin logo must elegantly convey the values of outdoor adventure made meaningful through sharing experiences we enjoy with others to build broader awareness, appreciation and support for environmental stewardship.

The logo and name typeface must be suitable and compelling for Mavin branded T's, accessories and outdoor clothing.
