We need a logo designed for a new start up company called Catalyst Collective, based in Brisbane Australia.
We are a small team that aims to improve the employment and participation rate of the disabled population of Australia, by facilitating business creation.
We provide a bespoke designed CoWorking space, tailored specifically to the blind, deaf, and physically disabled. We also offer mentoring and coaching through the business start up phase, as well as guest lectures and networking events. Eventually, we will provide microfinancing of business loans for the startups who progress through our space as well.
Ideally the text of the logo will be easy to read - that is, mostly black and white/monochrome - and able to be read by an OCR (think fax machine quality printing). An extra colour on top of the black and white would be good, but preferably minimal colouring, as some of our clients are colour blind.
In terms of logo themes, the idea behind 'catalyst' is that one thing enters, a reaction occurs, and another thing altogether leaves - so potentially chemical reaction themes, such as a match or flame.
The 'collective' comes from the concept of it being a community exercise, extending each other's network, and being a group effort.
Our values are innovation, inclusiveness, and initiative.
I've added a very rough mock up of the working logo we have been using. Playing on the catalyst theme, we put a flame in there - though the flame is in a circular pattern around the match head, which was hinting at uniqueness sort of, since that isn't really how a flame would burn.
