Logo Design Brief

A logo for use in all media - print, web, digital, mobile, wechat, baidu.

Boyd Group International is a global aviation research and consulting firm, founded in 1984. We have gained the reputation as being blunt, direct, and very non-politically correct. This has set us apart from other consultants, which generally are reticent to rock the boat.
The International Aviation Forecast Summit, which we also use as IAFS, is a product of our approach, and is today the most prestigious aviation forecast event. Held annually for 23 years, it draws aviation industry leaders from across the spectrum of the industry and across the world. The format is generally to bring in high-level presenter participants where we candidly discuss future issues affecting aviation
The format is incisive discussion sessions with individual participants - CEOs and high level executives from airlines across the world, as well as the global aircraft manufacturers such as Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier, Embraer, ATR and Mitsubishi – from all around the globe.
The attendees are from aviation-related entities, including airports (US and foreign), airline planners, aviation-related financial institutions, aviation suppliers, etc. They come to the Summit because it is the only event that delivers real independent forecasts (from our company – aircraft forecasts and traffic (airport) forecasts), as well as from the aircraft manufacturers themselves.) They receive data and perspectives that are not at any other event
This is the only event (we try not using the word "conference") that is focused entirely on futurist perspectives. Unlike most aviation conferences, we do not invite any government bureaucrats, and we make it clear that political correctness does not come into the event. The Summit does not deliver any government data – because we have better data. This has built our reputation v other events .
What we are after is a logo that expresses the uniqueness of the Summit, its global nature, as well the fact that it delivers insights not available anywhere else.

Attached is a rogues gallery of logo headers we have used in the past. We do like the blue/purple/gray color pallet – but this is your area of expertise.
Some of the headers include the identity of the host site – which varies every year, usually. (I am not a fan of the one that has the word "forecast" in script – but this is your area of expertise.)

www.AviationForecastSummit.com is the official site. As of this moment, we have not yet revised it for the 2018 Summit (which will be held in Denver.) It can give you an idea of where we have been. Our company site is www.AviationPlanning.com. It can also give an idea of our very different iconoclastic approach.
One thing we are insistent on is a logo that has the capability of its identity being threaded throughout our materials. As an example, we have a related organization at www.ChinaNiHao.com. You'll note that the designer of the logo has a sub-symbol with the Chinese character for "good" with the tag line, "It's all good." This we use as a margin marker in our promotional materials. For the Summit, if a symbol is a key part of the logo that we can use throughout our promo materials, it would be great.

Target Market(s)

Anyone in the aviation industry that is involved in planning, purchasing, and operations. That includes financial institutions, hedge funds, etc, as well as those in the trenches planning and implementing aviation operations. Typically, the Summit draws over 400. In 2017 it was held at the Wynn Resort in Las Vegas.
