Logo Design Brief

We are looking for a new corporate identity for our consulting company. We are engineering consultants in the field of physical asset management. This means we help late companies with lots of machinery run it better to work more profitably, safer and in a more environmentally friendly manner. The name Gaussian comes from the Gaussian distribution (normal distribution) which is a statistical mathematical concept about finding an optimum. Our corporate colours are red black and white. refer to Web site http://hugo.minnaar.me/gaussian/ for the look and feel and the exiting logo.

I have included the existing logo, but this is simply for reference.

A potential ides is to include some kind of gear or cog as that is the kind of machinery we are involved with.
