Logo Design Brief

Virginia is for Entrepreneurs (VA4E) is a new organization connecting entrepreneurs with investors, entrepreneur support organizations and government agencies in the Commonwealth of Virginia in the United States. VA4E helps entrepreneurs find the funding and support resources they need to grow, and contribute to a vibrant Virginia economy.

The logo should be clean, modern, and welcoming. It should appeal to the above-mentioned groups. The in-development website is located at va4e.org. Screenshot attached. We have not finalized the design of the site by any means so do not feel constrained by its style.

You may look to organizations such as the Nashville Entrepreneur Center (http://www.ec.co), Village Capital (vilcap.com), and The Case Foundation (https://casefoundation.org/) for inspiration; or be as creative as you like.

The phrase "Virginia is for Entrepreneurs" plays off a popular tourism campaign called "Virginia is for Lovers" (https://www.virginia.org/). While we'd prefer not to copy their logo style (and that may cause legal issues), we are interested in evoking travel and nature. We have been using greens, and nature photos on our website. This is not mandatory, but is something you could explore.

Requirements

Must have

• 1) Square logo file containing "VA4E" text. Does not have to be a perfect square, you can use white space as needed, however, must certainly look good in square form.
• 2) Larger horizontal version of logo with "Virginia is for Entrepreneurs"

Nice to have

• 1) A version which contains both the abbreviation "VA4E", and the full name "Virginia is for Entrepreneurs"
• 2) Moderate to dark green color. Definitely not a requirement, but reflects our current thinking of incorporating the feel of nature. Feel free to surprise us with other options.
• 3) Incorporate a state landmark from Virginia. Though this would need to appeal to Virginians universally, and not only to a specific region.

Should not have

• 1) The logo should not be too similar to "Virginia is for Lovers" brand for legal reasons.
• 2) Should not contain Confederate or otherwise insensitive imagery. The goal is to be inclusive, not remind people of conflicts past and present.
